Project Summary: By innovative use of alternative construction methods Macdonald Design were able to design a new timber pavilion in 2008 for £208,000 plus VAT against the original construction cost using traditional methods priced in 2003 at £450,000 plus VAT. The clubhouse was opened to national acclaim as an ECB National Showcase Club for 2009.

Macdonald Case Study: Ashtead Cricket Club

Project Summary: In 2009 Lincolnshire YMCA were invited to join a group to look at a world class youth facility for Lincoln. Macdonald Design were appointed to be the architects for the new project by Lincolnshire YMCA and following the award, they spent time consulting with many different partners and associates across the area, especially young people, to develop the centre. Following months of design and consultation work, a plan was agreed by all partners with construction commencing in the Summer of 2010. The project was completed early in 2011 amid much local fanfare with Sir Steve Redgrave officially opening the project on Monday April 4th, 2011.

Macdonald Case StudyYMCA – The Showroom

Project Summary: : Paul Taylor speaks here about the details of Steve Macdonald’s role within Surrey County Cricket. Steve is Chairman of the Facilities Working Group for Surrey County Cricket Club and in this role, alongside his position as a Board Member of the club, he has played an active part in improving club facilities across the county. Steve was earmarked for this role following the success of clubhouse projects such as Ashtead and Chipstead which were innovatively designed and built at an affordable cost. Working closely now with Paul Taylor and Paul Bedford, who heads recreational cricket at the ECB, Steve’s experience and expertise on the design, construction and management of sports buildings and clubs is integral to the development of cricket clubs on a national basis.

Project Summary: Macdonald Design were appointed by Mr & Mrs Lavery to redesign their cottage. The brief was to extend out from the rear of the property into the garden, creating space for a new kitchen and dining space on the ground floor and an en-suite for the main bedroom on the first floor together with reconstruction of the rest of the interior.
